I already have a theatrical agent. Can I still compete?

If you are currently under contract with another theatrical agent, you are ineligible to participate. If your contract has expired, and you are seeking new representation, you may compete. Please note: having a manager or commercial representation has no bearing on your eligibility.

I'm just getting started and I don't have headshots. Can I enter without them?

No. You will need headshots to be submitted for anything. Find a photographer and get some headshots. We'll be happy to be the first place you use them.

What should I wear to the competition?

As with any audition, you should dress neatly and age appropriate. Do not wear any distracting, offensive or overly revealing clothing. Try to look put together but comfortable. We want to get a good look at you, the actor, not one costumed character you can play, so avoid gimmicky character costumes.

Which scene should I pick?

Pick the scene that best suits your acting strengths. If it is a scene from a well-known show or movie, do NOT try to imitate the performance of the actor who originated the role. Show us your own personal interpretation of the material. When in doubt, pick the scene you like best, it's less likely to get stale as you work on it over the week.

What if I have a last minute schedule conflict?

Do everything within your power to make your scheduled time. We will be on a very tight schedule and you should be in and out within a half-hour at most. Conflicts such as work shifts, games, parties or events are not examples of emergencies and will not be accommodated as they would not take priority in a real audition scenario. If a real emergency arises, please email The Actor's Key as soon as you can and we will do everything in our power to move you to a different slot within the competition timeframePlease note: you will not be allowed to cancel less than one week before the competition. No exceptions.

How has RepreSensation worked in the past?

Starting in 2005, out of a need for actors to have a proactive way to seek out representation, RepreSensation was born. Originally the competition was able to guarantee a theatrical agency contract to its winners. However new legislation has put a spotlight on events for actors, and while RepreSensation in its original incarnation does not violate the letter of the law, we want to take every precaution to keep the competition and the everyone involved from facing any sort of legal action. Therefore, RepreSensation now promises only a meeting with an agent and does not guarantee a contract or employment. It is my personal belief, that the caliber of actor who has won this competition in each of the previous years is so high, any agent would be a fool not to jump at the chance to add them to the roster! Best of luck to you all.
